Eagle over White Lake

Tom and Cathy Kielich's daughter, Amanda Lamp, took this picture of a bald eagle checking out the fish situation on White Lake.  Eliot Elfner reported a sighting of an eagle over White Lake as well.  All of this was over the busy 4th of July week, 2018.

2018 Peacock Triathlon Photos

2018 Peacock Triathlon Photos

Every year, Ken Pientka hosts the White Lake Peacock Triathlon.  It is a modified triathlon, suitable for all ages.  I don't have the exact distances, but it's something like a 300 yard swim, a 9 mile bike ride and a 2 mile run.  Arrangements are flexible.  If you don't want to do a 3 parts, you are welcome to form a team or just do the parts you like.

Ken's wife Marilyn and a crew of timekeepers keep track of everything, and everyone has a good time.  Typically Ken sends me photos and asks me when I'm going to put them on the old html website.  This year, I'm putting some up before he even sent them to me. Thanks to Suzanne Richter's facebook post, please enjoy these shots from the 2018 Peacock Tri.  (Click on the photo to see a larger version.)

Spectators watching the swimming.  Transition area to bikes is up the stairs.

Group photo, but not the whole group.

Results.  I believe the top half is for those who chose to run all 3 legs themselves. The bottom half is for teams.  I like how Jon Elf had two runners, Dory and her dad, so he could choose the best time!

2018 WLPOA Lake Meeting and Picnic a Success!

2018 WLPOA Lake Meeting and Picnic a Success!

Thanks to everyone who attended the 2018 Lake meeting and/or the picnic afterward.  This is a great event to visit with your lake neighbors, hear about issues affecting the lake, find out what you can do and attend an amazing brat picnic afterward!

This may have been record attendance.  At one point we counted 150 people there.  Above is a photo from the meeting part with the brat team in full preparation mode on the right.  Mark your calendars for July 6, 2019 for next years meeting and picnic.  It is a fun day.

Many thanks to Jane Terry and family, who coordinated all the food arrangements and setup.  And to Mike Coursey and family who got up early to make sure all the brats were ready to go upon meeting adjournment.  And to Leo Souder who made sure we had beer, coolers and everything else we needed to host a party for this big group.

Thanks to President Mark Mydlach, who kept the meeting moving along and made sure it was interesting and fun, and the rest of the board put a ton of work in behind the scenes.  It is a great group of people who really care about our lake.  In fact, we have a picture from a drone of most of the board hard at work getting everything setup the night before!

Thanks to Joanne Howard for the first picture of the meeting and to the CG Schmidt backup drone, "Splash!" for the second one.
